Racing's Iron Horse
Both Bold Ruler and Round Table were born on April 6, 1954 at Claiborne Farm
in Kentucky. Both were of noble ancestry, both went on to lead legendary racing
careers. Yet despite his longer, more prosperous racing and stud career, Round
Table never quite escaped Bold Ruler's shadow.
During his four years of racing, Round Table had 43 wins in 66 starts. More
than a third of them were in record-breaking time. He won the 1958 Horse of the
Year award, and ended 1960 as the world's leading money winner. Standing as a
Claiborne stallion, he was named 1972's leading sire and contributed his winning
ways to 83 stakes winners.
