Original racing clips, feature interviews, and more
The day after this 60-minute Seabiscuit special aired on PBS, everyone from
the car mechanic to the postman started talking. "Did you see the PBS
show on that little brown racehorse from the 30's? You know, what's his
name ... Seabiscuit!"
The story is a fascinating one. This stubby-kneed, average-looking horse captured the
heart of a nation during the Great Depression.
He became one of 1938's Top 10 newsmakers, with both he and his jockey
overcoming their troubled pasts to begin historic futures.
If you missed this special the first time - or if you just want to see
it again - here's your chance. This documentary from the PBS American Experience
series includes original footage of Seabiscuit's famed match race with War
Admiral, clips from several of his other races, and an interview with Laura
Hillenbrand, author of Seabiscuit: An American Legend (click

for the book on audio tape). In its 60
minutes you'll be captivated by one of history's most remarkable Thoroughbreds.
