The story and artwork of Franklin Voss
Franklin B. Voss has been called America's answer to Sir Alfred
Munnings. One of the great sporting artists of his time, he practiced
what he painted. Voss was equally at home riding to the hounds as he was
behind the easel.
His glorious oil paintings of the hunt field, champion racehorses and
prized hounds made him the sporting artist of choice. This coffee table
book contains more than 50 full-color reproductions of racehorses such
as Man o' War, Seabiscuit, Blue Larkspur, Equipoise, Gallant Fox, Sir
Barton and more; steeplechasers, hunters, even a few celebrities and
their mounts.
Peter Winants, former director of the National Sporting Library,
tells the story of Voss and his subjects - the horses, the places and
the people.
