3 Easy Steps to Calculate Canadian Duty and GST.
Step 1. Add together the cost of all merchandise.
Step 2.
Customers in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, Prince Edward
Island, Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut (GST): Multiply the total from Step 1 by 5 percent. Enter the GST amount on the tax line on the Order Form.
Customers in British Columbia (HST): Multiply the total from Step 1 by 12 percent. Enter the
HST amount on the tax line on the Order Form.
Customers in Ontario, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador (HST): Multiply the total from Step 1 by
13 percent. Enter the HST amount on the tax line on the Order Form.
Customers in Nova Scotia (HST): Multiply the total from Step 1 by 15 percent. Enter the
HST amount on the tax line on the Order Form.Step 3. Enter the $14.95 Canadian Customs Charge on the line on the Order
Form.
Please note: All prices are in US dollars. If paying in Canadian dollars, please multiply the total by
1.06.
Canadian Duty, Taxes and Brokerage
For Canadian orders, we collect the GST or HST (as applicable),
duty (as applicable), as well as shipping charges at point of sale. You avoid
C.O.D. charges and the customs clearance hassles. Orders that are under $20
Canadian value are not subject to duty or tax. Packages destined for the
provinces of British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and
Ontario we must remit HST, others we remit GST. We will assist to expedite
delivery through Canadian customs by working with a customs broker designated by
us and working closely with them.
Customs Clearance
When you place an order with The Russell Meerdink Company, you authorize our
designated Canadian customs broker, Russell A. Farrow Limited (canadaplus.com
division), to act on your behalf as the Importer of Record with Canada Border
Services Agency (customs) and the Canadian Revenue Agency to customs clear your
merchandise and pay all duty and taxes as applicable. Amounts collected for
duty and taxes are accepted by us on your behalf for the customs broker to pay
on your behalf.
