Q6) Does my trailer need brakes?
Yes, yes and yes! If you are towing horses, your trailer
needs its own brakes, as opposed to the trailer relying on the truck's brakes to
stop it.
The state of Wisconsin requires brakes on any trailer weighing
3,000 lbs. or more. (When your trailer is loaded with one horse, it will
generally weigh this much.) Most states have similar requirements.
